Waxing aftercare advice
Please follow the guidelines below to ensure that your skin is cared for properly for the next few days.
Please note the following that the following reactions are quite common after a wax treatment and are perfectly normal temporary reactions. Any symptoms should subside within 24-48 hours
- Slight soreness
- Small bumps and redness
- If you experience persistent sourness and redness please do not hesitate to contact me
Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 to 48 hours. This means
- Avoid extreme heat for 24 hrs. This includes very hot baths/showers, steam rooms, saunas and Jacuzzi’s as this can aggravate the skin and the pores are still open. You could also pick up an infection from public places
- No massage or heat treatment for 24 hours
- Exposure to UV light, including sun beds and sunbathing, must be avoided for 24 hours following treatment, as burning can occur.
- No fake tan for 24 hours
- Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools
- Deodorant or anything perfumed should not be applied to the area that has been waxed for 24-48 hours as this could make the area very sore.
- For women, make-up should be avoided following facial hair removal for that day although mineral make up is fine.
- Tight clothing should be avoided following any waxing treatment for 24-48 hours as this can aggravate the area that’s been waxed.
- Waxing removes dead skin so the skin may be a little lighter immediately following treatment but the colour will return to normal within a few hours. In the case you have sun tan it will remove part of the colour as waxing removes the first layer of your skin.
- Dry brush the area that has been waxed a couple of times a week. Get a brush that you would scrub your back with, made from wood and bristle. Just before you step into the bath or shower, take the dry brush and brush your skin whilst it’s dry.
- A heat reaction may be seen on the skin for several hours following the treatment and this is quite normal. This will vary from a mild redness to a much stronger skin reaction and some people have red dots on the waxed area for several hours.
- If any spots or rashes persist for more than a week, or become infected, Please consult with your GP.
- If the aftercare advice given is followed, the skin will return to normal within 24 hours. If the reaction is still present after this time or worsens, it may be that you have had an allergic reaction to the wax, and you should seek medical advice from your GP.
Other information
You may notice a small amount of regrowth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results. Hair needs to be at least 1/2cm long before it can be successfully removed by waxing.
Please do not shave between your appointments.
To maintain your smooth appearance, I would recommend regular waxing every 4-6 weeks.
